Saturday February 29th, Day -1 - Last minute packing and preparations

We plan to leave tomorrow for warmer places. June has mostly packed the Serenity Falcon, I have been doing the manly things like check the oil, fill the DEF, check air pressure, etc.. We  have made the trip to Florida this time of year more than a half dozen times but, never all the way to Key West. This will be our third Florida trip with the Serenity Falcon, the first two had incidents, a flat tire/battery and then a DEF issue which was more serious. We are are hoping that this time no such events occur, but if things come up, we will just roll with it.

New this year is that we decided to bring along urban transportation. We purchased a used Scooter and will carry it on a rack in the tow hitch. It is a bit of an experiment, my original thought was ebikes but a Scooter is street legal and can carry two.

We are leaving here tomorrow, March 1st, and have reservations in Key West the 10th thru the 12th. So we will work our way there at a leisurely pace.

We plan stop and visit a few friends and relatives along the way.

It is about 1800 miles to KW, but broken up over a week, it should not feel like a marathon.

Leaving VT this time of year is not that hard, today it snowed about two inches and the temperature struggled to reach the mid twenties.  The lake is still frozen and the ice fishermen were out there most of the day.

There not much more than white out the window. On the bright side, Matt and Erica went skiing today while June played with Emilia, I am sure the skiing was fantastic.

It is currently 74F in KW, just saying.

So, let the adventure begin.

  1. On the road again, headed to Key West to check it off the list; funny tho, the more things we check off...the longer the list gets! Looking forward to the warmer temps and spending time with my husband visiting family and friends. Hang on and enjoy the ride with us. :)
